Overview
The destructive power of lightning is extremely strong, and lightning waves can directly or indirectly (through electromagnetic induction) invade various electrical and metal channels (such as power lines, signal lines, and metal pipelines). The lightning overvoltage and surge voltage generated from this will cause great harm to electrical equipment and communication information systems, ranging from damaging power lines to damaging electrical equipment, causing system paralysis and incalculable losses.
HBL1 surge protector is an ideal overvoltage protection device used to protect various electrical equipment in low-voltage power grids from lightning overvoltage and various surge voltages.
principle
The HBL1 type surge protector uses a varistor with excellent nonlinear characteristics, which is connected between the phase line and neutral line (L-N), phase line and ground line (L-PN), and neutral line and ground line (N-PE). Under normal conditions, the surge protector is in a very high resistance state, and the leakage current is almost zero, ensuring the normal power supply of the power system. When the power system experiences overvoltage in the above situation, the surge protector immediately conducts rapidly in nanoseconds, limiting the amplitude of the overvoltage within the safe working range of the equipment and directing the energy of the overvoltage into the ground, thereby protecting the electrical equipment. Subsequently, the surge protector quickly changed to a high resistance state, thus not affecting the normal power supply of the power system.

Appearance and installation dimensions
HBL1 surge protector is used for low-voltage AC power supply in single-phase systems (phase line L+neutral line N), three-phase three wire (three wire 3L), and three-phase four wire (three wire 3L+neutral line N) systems, to protect their electrical equipment from lightning overvoltage voltage and various surge voltages. (Therefore, the product name is surge protector) The specific usage reference is as follows:
One pole (one module), used for 220V single line systems, with its neutral and ground wires directly connected. (L-NPE)
Two poles (two module combination) for 220V single-phase systems (L-PE, N-PE)
3-pole (three module combination) for 380V three-phase three wire system (L1-PE, L2-PE, L3-PE)
Four poles (four modules) are used for 380V/220V three-phase four wire systems (L-PE, L2-PE, L3-PE, N-PE, TN systems) (L-PE, L2-PE, L3-PE, N-PE, TT systems)

When the surge protector is working normally, the indicator sign is green. After the failure of the gear module, the indicator will turn red. The lightning arrester with sound and light alarm function will emit a buzzing sound and display a red light when the module fails. Remote signaling function: When the module fails, the alarm will emit a buzzing sound and also send out contact signals for closing and opening for remote monitoring. After the module fails, it needs to be replaced immediately. To maintain the normal operation of the surge protector, it should be tested every six months and replaced immediately if it is found to be ineffective.
